A Steadfast Faith

June 2018

June has been a very full month for us! James completed his 2 weeks of annual training with the National Guard in the heat and humidity of central Iowa. While he was gone, Elizabeth worked diligently to help get things created and set up for VBS.

Once James got home from his training, we dove right in to helping with our week of Vacation Bible School! James led the opening, helped with the puppets, and herded the younger kids (ages 4-8) around. Elizabeth did the music and led the older kids (ages 9-12). We had about 20 kids attend this year, most of whom came from the community at large - some are repeat VBS'ers, and a few were brand new. It was a profitable week of teaching them about Jesus and building relationships! Pastor and James will be following up with the families throughout the coming weeks, and hopefully we'll see some ongoing connection with several of them.

We've got a week to recuperate, then we'll be starting our next round of meetings. We have 4 different churches scheduled in July -

  • 7/1 - Friendship Baptist Church – Thayne, WY
  • 7/15 - First Baptist Church – Keenesburg, CO
  • 7/22 - Grace Baptist Church – Randolph, UT
  • 7/29 - Grace Baptist Church – Kemmerer, WY

  • Please be praying with us for some fruitful meetings and continued energy as we travel each weekend! Thankfully, the furthest is only about 6 hours away, so we'll be able to stay home each week to continue working. We'll also be celebrating our 11th anniversary in the midst of it all. :) We'd also covet your prayers as we continue to seek God's timing for moving to Cache County. So far it seems God is keeping us here in Kemmerer - but we are eager to move as soon as He directs us that way!

We also continue to contact churches for meetings throughout the remainder of this year and into 2019. Some of you have passed information along to us, and for that we are very grateful! But the hardest part is actually getting in touch with pastors - especially during the busy summer season. We'd appreciate your prayers for ease of scheduling and more opportunities to share our burden for Utah.

For the Sake of His Name,
    James & Elizabeth Johnson
